MINUTES REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 5, 2019

Johnson City Lions Club – December 5, 2019

 

The Johnson City Lion’s Club met December 5, 2019 at the Johnson City Country Club. Those present were:  Brian Powell, Ken Gough, Gayle Cox, Don Raines, Steve Campbell, Clem Wilkes, Jerry Lonon, Debbie Shipley, Tim Tapp, Judy VanLandingham, George Winton, Doris Kaifa, Charles Green, Ed Gibbons, and Billy Pike

The Lion Tamer collected 5.07 and the Tail Twister collected 3.48. Doris Kaifa won the drawing and chose the Turtle Derby as the beneficiary of the funds.

President Shipley called the meeting to order and called on Gayle Cox to lead the pledge and Brian Powell to lead the prayer. The following announcements were made:

  • We received a thank you note from ETSU Scholarship Recipient – Heather Brooke Arnold.
  • We received an award from Lions International for Membership Satisfaction.
  • We received a thank you note from Doris Kaifa for the donation fo Celebrate Life.President Shipley reminded the club of our efforts last year for Diabetes Awareness.  In that project we donated money to Second Harvest Food Bank to put together Diabetic friendly meal boxes.  Gayle Cox made the motion that the club donate 250.00 and Don Raines provided a second to the motion.  all were in favor.We will be ringing bells with the Salvation Army at the Upper Level Entrance (Men’s Dept) at Belk.  The date for this will be December 17th and we have the 11:00-5:00 pm. time slot.President Shipley introduced today’s speaker Amy O’Brien from Safe House Domestic Violence Shelter.  Following the informative program, President Shipley gave a Lions Club Pen to Ms. O’Brien.With no further business to come before the club, the meeting was adjourned.Respectfully Submitted,Tim Tapp – Secretary
