Meeting notes from the 1st  regular monthly meeting of the Johnson City Lions Club for OCTOBER held Thursday, Oct. 1st at the Johnson City Country Club, Johnson City, TN 37601.

(8 members and one prospective member/guest present)

The meeting was called to order at 12:22 PM by our PRESIDENT – KING LION Ken Gough.

Lion C.B Willis led the pledge and PDG Ed Gibbons led the prayer.

Lion Willis ask PDG Gibbons to introduce his guest, Lion Carissa Chambers, who is serving an internship at the Veteran’s Administration in Johnson Citizen as an eye Doctor. Currently or formally a member of the Farragut Lions Club Carissa is interested in joining the JCLC.

King Lion Gough won the drawing and gave up the winnings for the benefit the Pecan Sale.

 

Lion C.B. Willis said he was around a sign-up sheet  for the pecan sale which is now on. This year only 16 oz. bags are being offered for $12.00/bag. Order by the case (30 bags/case) and if you could not be at the meeting to order please call Lion Willis to place your order; 423-282-3325 or email him at cbwillis@charter.net.

 

King Lion Gough ask that a memorial fund be established  in the name and memory of for the late Lion  Waymond  Mumpower  who died Sep. 18th. Lion Steve Campbell agreed to do the paper work and all JCLC members present were given the opportunity to make a donation. All present did. The Turtle Derby is in full swing. IPP Lion George Winton reported that sponsorships are being sold, lawn signs have been designed and are ready to be placed, posters and tickets are being printed, the media has been notified and the turtles are ready. The 64th JCLC Turtle Derby will be held at the Carver at the Carver Center, Friday, November 13, 2015 at 7PM.  500 turtle sponsorships are needed this year. Do your part. Sell as many “turtles” as you can.

 

PDG reported that Mrs. Gibbons (Lion Theresa) is home recovering from her 3rd hip operation but doing well – her pain has been greatly reduced. All prayers and condolences have been appreciated and have helped.

Next regular meeting is Thursday, October 15th, 2015. Bring a prospective new member. 2 if you’re behind! 3 if your way behind!!

 

 

 

 

The semi-annual eyeglasses recycling trip, Sat. the 24th of Oct. 

(Volunteers needed) King Lion says he needs glasses by no later than next Thursday even if you can’t go with us.

 

Multi District meeting – Club Hotel, Nashville, Friday and Saturday, November 6th and 7th

 

            District meeting – LVBI headquarters in Morristown on Sat, November 14th

 

                District Convention  – Friday and Saturday, Feb. 19th and 20th 2016 in Oak Ridge.
