Johnson City Lions Club Regular Meeting Minutes October 7, 2021

The Johnson City Lions Club met for its regular meeting on Thursday October 7, 2021, at 12 noon at the Johnson City Country Club.  Present at the meeting were King Lion Steve Campbell, Lion Ken Gough, Lion George Winton, Lion Ed Gibbons and guest Sam, Lion Steve Brown, Lion Jerry Lonon, Lion Don Raines, Lion Debbie Shipley and Lion Doris Kaifa secretary.

The meeting was called to order by King Lion Steve Campbell.    Lion Ed Gibbons lead the opening prayer.

Committee and Project Report:

The President asked for announcements. Lion Ken Gough (Treasurer) announced that the eyeglass recycling will now be held on November 13th in Morristown.

Lion Ken Gough suggested the club consider changing from a 501(c)4 organization to a 501(c)3.  Donations to a 501(c)4 are not tax deductible, while 501(c)3 are.  Otherwise, operations would not be affected.

Lion Debbie asked the club to support the fundraiser on October 16th for Celebrate Life Ya Un’ Mission, Inc. It is $10 a ticket. Members contributed to ticket purchase.

Lion George Winton announced the Turtle Derby is set for October 16th at the Boys and Girls Club. Members are to be there for set up at 9 am. Facebook Live will start at 10 am.

A “Thank You Note” from the Waverly (TN) Lions Club for our donation toward disaster relief was read by the President.

Our Guest, Sam introduced himself to the club.

Lion Ed Gibbons announced that he and Lion Steve Brown will do an eye screening on Monday October 10, 2021 at Chilhowie Daycare.

Our next meeting will be October 13th, 2021.

With no further business for discussion, the meeting was adjourned by King Lion Steve Campbell.
