The Johnson City Lions Club Board meeting was held Thursday Nov.11, 2021, at 12 noon at the Johnson City Country Club. Present at the meeting were King Lion Steve Campbell, Lion Ken Gough, Lion Ed Gibbons, Lion George Winton, Lion Charles Green, Lion Don Raines, and Lion Doris Kaifa (Secretary).
The meeting was called to order by King Lion Steve Campbell. Lion Ed Gibbons led the opening prayer. King Lion Steve Campbell asked for project and committee reports.
King Lion read a letter from ETSU Foundation Endowment Fund for the Johnson City Lions Club.
Committee and Project Reports:
Lion Ken Gough (Treasurer) presented the treasurer’s report. Accepted by consent.
Lion George Winton give an overview of the Turtle Derby fundraiser in October. He reported that funds are coming in.
The President asked for announcements.
Lion Ken Gough announced the eyeglasses packaging & recycling will be held on November 13th at 9am in Gray. Everyone is encouraged to help.
Lion Ed announced he will be doing an eye screening at Tiny Town Daycare on the 23rd and on the 30th at First Christian Church Daycare. Anyone interested in helping please contact Lion Ed Gibbons. He also announced pecans are here. Anyone interested can pick up a box for sale.
On motion of George Winton, seconded by Ken Gough, the Board voted to request membership in Smokies Mountain charities, which will make the club a 501(c)3 organization. President Steve Campbell will make the formal application.
The club donated $500 to the Boys and Girls Club.
The club voted and accepted Sam Melchner, Cherie Bowman, David Sheets, Cynthia S. Ayers, and Josh E. Gibbons as new members. They were sponsor by Lion Ed Gibbons.
Our next meeting will be Dec. 2nd, 2021.
