Turtle Derby:  King Lion Dr. Campbell said the 60th JC Turtle Derby will be held Friday, October 14th at brooks Gym on the ETSU campus at 7PM. It was agreed that because of the early date the TD campaign will have to be underway much earlier than last year. That means the kick off meeting will be Thursday, August 4th, the first regular meeting in August. Seems early but it still only gives us 9 weeks to sell sponsorships. Start making plans now; each active Lion needs to sell 20 turtle sponsorships for us to hit this year’s goal of 600. Oh yes we can!

Volunteer Lions are sorely needed. Lion Willis will help but he cannot stay until noon.  If you can, please come and bring a lawn chair, coffee, duct tape, a magic marker and some hot coffee.
  Little League:  No report
Pecans: Lion CB Wills said we can start taking orders in August for pecans even though they won’t be ripe enough to be delivered until later in the year. So if you want your friends to get their share of those big, fat, juicy pecans better find out how many bags they’ll be needing.
Disaster Relief: PDG Lion Denis Powell reported that there was good attendance from our club and others in the area for the distribution of food, cleaning supplies and mattresses last month. He estimated that what was not distributed during the two day effort would be through the continuing effort of Lions in the three counties being helped and the local churches and community organizations supporting them (us).
LCIF:  Officers can now create their own user name and password to log onto the LCIF web site. Just go to www.lionsclubs.org and follow the simple instructions (simple if you enjoy writing computer programs on your lunch hour). You’ll need our present user name, 1400351, and a little time to do this. If you have any trouble call 630-468-6901 and ask for help.
