Johnson City Lions Club
The Johnson City Lions Club will celebrate the 65th anniversary of its founding in 1947 this December. Through all these 65 years the local community has generously supported our community service projects, so it is appropriate that the public have an accounting of our stewardship of the funds entrusted to us during the past year.
During the 2011-2012 year, we had net income of $31,347 because of the hard work of our members. These funds came from the Turtle Derby ($18,790), Pecan Sales ($2,831), Gum Ball Machines ($1,006), Trust Fund ($669), Memorials ($1,645), Sight Conservation contributions ($5,010), Nuts & Bolts ($525) Lions Field Signs ($1,540).
Service projects contributions for the year include Eyeglasses & Exams ($17,910), District 12N Charities ($1,000), Eyeglass Camera ($5,500), Mattress Give-way ($2,673), District 12N White Cane Days ($1,000), Leader Dog ($500), Little League Team ($700), Christmas Benevolence ($250), Lions Club International Foundation ($1,000).
The very exciting 60th annual Turtle Derby, run in November is our biggest fundraiser in the community (net $14,571)).
Over 3,500 pairs of used eyeglasses were collected and shipped to Roanoke, Virginia where they were cleaned, graded and packed for use by mission trips going to Third World countries.
We contributed free eyeglasses and eye exams to 288 deserving individuals during the past year.
We greatly appreciate the loyal support of our many community friends and hope that you will see fit to continue your support in the future. We also would welcome your membership in our great Club. Contact us at 929-7103.
